I play guitar and have been playing for 2 years. I really like free falling by him and i was wondering if i could right a song how he played it on the guitar?
I know free fallin is tom petty’s song i like the style he uses in that song.

“Free Fallin’” is a song by Tom Petty. John Mayer just played a cover of it. Personally, his version is better than the original.
You can write a song on guitar, of course. On the surface you just have to know some chords, a few guitar techniques, and how to play. Oh, you also need inspiration and information of melody.

Be your own artist, John Mayer isn’t even a excellent artist, and no his version of free falling is not better then Tom Pettys.

John Mayer utilizes a lot of theory in his playing. He’s an educated musician, and has tonnes of experience in writing. The best thing to do is develop your ear. Look up “ear training” on google and see if you can find whatever thing. A excellent place to start with ear training is learning intervals. Books like “harmony and theory” from the MI series are excellent for learning…well, harmony and theory. email me directly if you’re interested in taking a look at it, and ignore that other guy who “answered” and said john mayer is not a excellent artist. first of all, this guy backs up such a bold statement with his recording degree…..doesn’t mean he knows shit about music. second, john mayer is fuckin briliant.
